Satya- Truth

(San Pedro Beach, 5min waya from the Shala. Vrschikasana)

Authentic is the person who has become the owner of their truth. They have a fascinating pull that makes them magnetic and quite difficult to work out. Authentic people aren’t easy people. In their journey within they have gone beyond many of the established social rules and the expectations of others and have learned to live hand in hand with their inner critic rather than being its slave. They aren’t easy people because they live their truth and basically they’ve got to a point where they do not give a fuck anymore. So what is the truth when you practice? What is your truth? What is Satya? Satya is coming to the practice with who you really are, not emulating who you would like to be. It is seating in between your light and your shadow so that you can become aware of both working within you at the same time. Satya is working with both the strong and the weak in you, the devoted and the slack, the centred and the dispersed, the trusting and the coward, the fearless unprotected in you and the cynic. This is practicing from the evolving truth of who you are, your eyes focussed on both ends of the string. It is not about acquiring the quality you judge as desirable now, it is not about achieving an external sense of righteousness but about embracing the full spectrum of your being and bringing that to the practice and to your life. What for? To stop escaping from yourself, so that you can love.
