Waterwork: Experience Profound Relaxation through Breath Control.
Please contact me via email should you be interested in these sessions: anamovestaoyoga@gmail.com
Waterwork is a unique approach to relaxation that involves immersion in apnea (breath hold) in shallow waters. Using body relaxation and breathing exercises, I help you soothe your nervous system and experience lasting relaxation. Our sessions can be conducted one on one or in small groups of up to four people maximum.
I prefer to work in the sea when the weather permits. However, if this is not possible, we use a private swimming pool with salty hot water. This approach is recommended for those who fear water, experience muscle tension, or have a tendency toward anxiety. All equipment is provided.
Our techniques focus on calming the sympathetic nervous system and restoring the parasympathetic nervous system. The sympathetic nervous system is responsible for the “flight-or-fight” responses that prepare your body to act when in danger. However, persistent stimuli such as unresolved past trauma, fear, or a lack of trust in the goodness of life can lead to complications of an overactive nervous system. Chronic stress and anxiety are the most common causes of an overactive nervous system, which can produce elevated heart rate, nervousness, anxiety, and insomnia.
Pranayama (breath control) and apnea (breath-hold) exercises can help soothe these responses immediately by bringing your heart rate and blood pressure down, activating your parasympathetic nervous system. This system regulates “rest and digest” functions and is responsible for sleep and deep relaxation. Our techniques will help you control and rebalance your nervous system both in and out of the water.
I conduct the sessions in shallow, confined waters with a maximum depth of 10m. I choose safe beaches such as Taurán, Silencio, and Concha de Artedo in Asturias, Northern Spain, or a warm-water salty pool.
Our training produces immediate effects and can be practiced daily to bring lasting relaxation to your life. It is especially recommended for those who suffer from anxiety, fear, general discomfort in life, phobias (including fear of water), and those who want to work deeper in their relaxation and joy.
