Experience YIN•YANG Yoga with a Tao Approach Steeped in Chinese Medicine

Join us daily for Yoga classes that follow the energies present in Nature throughout the year. As we are a part of nature, we can restore balance and harmony by following her cycles. In our classes we focus on asana (physical postures), silent meditation (sitting observing posture and breath) and pranayama (breath-hold and breath control) in equal measure. Please note that while our classes can be physically challenging, they are not solely focused on fitness.. Throughout the year we work with dynamic forms of yoga, static forms of yoga, yin yoga and yoga dance flow. Continue reading for a detail account on what we do:

The YIN•YANG YOGA SCHOOL has been running in Asturias (Spain) since 2010, but it wasn’t until 2020 that we started meeting everyday online. We come together via Zoom from Monday to Friday, fostering a supportive and collaborative Sangha dedicated to nurturing our Body, Energy, and Spirit, guided by the core principles of Chinese Medicine and Taoism. Our goal is to cultivate harmony and balance in our physical and mental health, radiating this positive energy into our lives and the world at large. All classes are live, with no pre-recorded content, held at 7:00 am and 9:00 am (Spanish mainland time) and lasting for one hour and 15 minutes. Classes are offered in both English and Spanish, welcoming participants of all levels and abilities. We honour each individual’s current capacity, following the Taoist principle of Wu Wei (non-forcing), which emphasizes effortless progress and awareness, ensuring a safe and enriching experience. The YIN•YANG YOGA SCHOOL is the life work, full dedication and commitment of Ana Moves —yoga teacher, acupuncturist, author, sound-therapist and mentor (www.ana-moves.com)—who brings 25 years of teaching experience and a decade of clinical practice to the community.

At the YIN•YANG YOGA SCHOOL, we provide a diverse practice designed to nurture all facets of the Self, aligning our growth with the cycles of Nature and the seasons. This means our practice evolves throughout the year, integrating the five aspects of the Chinese Wu Xing (five movements or elements) Theory. Each day begins with silent meditation or contemplation, followed by a physical practice aligned to the seasonal element, where breath and movement are intricately connected. We may conclude with breath control exercises, and throughout the week, we incorporate conversational meditations to broaden our perspectives on life and living. Additionally, we engage with the Tao Te Ching—a text attributed to the Sage Lao Tze, essential for understanding the Taoist view on existence—reading it once weekly in various translations in order to provide our practice with a solid philosophical and spiritual foundation. While we approach our practice with sincerity and respect, we also value humour and light-heartedness, so we quite often engage in laughing and cheering, ensuring that our sessions remain uplifting and joyful—an essential part of maintaining a healthy heart.

Our flat fee is 50€ per month, payable in advance on the 1st of every month. This fee allows you to attend as many classes as you wish.
